The heart rate is a good gauge of reflecting the effort that you are putting in to your training.
At rest heart rates range from 50 beats per minute (BPM) for Elite fitness & 81and above for people with below average fitness.
You can get a rough calculation of you heart rate by counting heart beats over a 6 second period and then multiply by 10.
Slightly more accurate try counting over 15 seconds and times by 4.
